Magnolia
A Magnolia at its mature height reaches 90' tall with a spread of 45'. The tree takes
75-100 years to reach its maximum height. The fragrant 8-10' waxy white flowers blossom in
spring and summer. A Magnolia prospers in deep, moist, acid soil and full sun, but will
grow with as little as 3 hours of direct sunlight a day. It is hardy in Zones 7-9, but in
the northernmost part of Zone 7, it should be sheltered from the wind. Magnolias should be
handled with care when transplanting and planting; the roots decay when bruised or broken.
The safest time to plant is in the spring, just before growth begins.
